How do you feel about forums that are completely shut off to guest viewing?
You have to register and/or login to the forum to be able to see anything?
Is it a turn off or does it make you want to join to see whats inside?

I think it's a bit off putting. I like to see exactly how the forum is set up before joining. I can understand maybe having one or two sections blocked off to guests, but not the entire board.
I don’t care to join forums where I can’t see the content. Some boards hidden is one thing; I have that on my own forum for privacy issues. I only join if I already know the person & that it’s active. Too many times I’ve joined a forum like this & come to find out, it hasn’t been active in years! Or worse, spam is overrun.
I have joined a forum or two that was completely closed off to guest viewing because I knew/interacted the forum owner on other forums. If I don't know the admin then I wouldn't join.
I won’t join a forum if I can’t view the content and see what the forum is all about. It’s a huge turn off.
I have always found forums that force you to register to see what they have to offer off putting. I have always been someone who likes to see what is available on a forum to see if it's something that I would enjoy being part of. If I can't see the content, I tend to leave and look for somewhere else.
