Memorial Day: A Day Of Remembrance

On this day many of us in the United States get the day off to relax with friends and family. The swimming pools open for business, just in time for summer to begin. While we are partying and having a good time today we should remember why we get this extra day off from work. This is the day where we should remember those who have fallen in battle, those brave soldiers who went off to fight for our freedoms and never returned home. Memorial Day is for just that, and it wasn't always called Memorial Day! Originally this day was known as "Decoration Day", but changed to Memorial Day in 1971. The origins of it's original name comes from the act of decorating soldier's graves, which many people do on this day including the Boy Scouts of America. Let us take this day to remember those who have fallen, and reach out to those who were close to these fallen soldiers. Show respect to the graves of those who have fallen, be safe while traveling.
