This happened literally just a few towns from where I live and it's absolutely appalling! Though the caption of the original picture mistakenly thought these airheads were burning books, the Republican governors burned boxes to show that they plan to burn books that they deem "inappropriate for children" and further pushes for the ban on books that the GOP doesn't like. It's ironic this was during a "Freedom Festival" when they want to control what people want to read. Yes they didn't burn books, however Bill Eigel stated that if he was elected, he would "burn woke books" on the front lawn of the Governor's mansion. I really need to move out of this state... The Republican party have had a long history of censorship and trying to shut down ideas and theories which they oppose. We have seen the amount of propaganda they have thrown against Marxism and socialist thought, we saw it again with postmodernism being used as a slur and as you mention we are seeing it again with the 'woke agenda' being disparaged. Unfortunately it can be an effective means of galvanizing support, as their active efforts at spreading misinformation are often quite successful at demonizing certain viewpoints and perspectives.

I think it should be up to the person to decide which books they want to read and which ones they don't (when it comes to adults, I mean).

Now, it's one thing for a parent to censor what their child reads until that child gets old enough to understand the material.......that's one thing.

But don't tell other people you can't read something just because you don't agree with it or don't like it.
