How often do you get a new computer? Perhaps you build your own computer so you don't have to worry about buying a brand new prebuilt? I often will get a new computer every 5 years or so. I know if I was to build my own, it would last longer but I don't have the money to do so. I just got a new rig back in April and haven't had any issues with it. My gaming laptop needs a good clean too, but it was taking a bit to work on video editing so that's why I wanted a desktop.

It usually takes quite a while before I get a new computer. I can't remember how many years it was between buying this laptop that I'm currently using the last one I had before this one. It was several years but I don't remember how long exactly.

We go as long as we can. Only when it's dying do we replace it. Example: We got our newer one due to our old one revving constantly. Went to the computer shop a couple of times to change a few things but only was a band-aid. For us, it's when it can't be fixed any longer.

Usually every 3 years or so - although, given that I spent £900 on my current one, I am hoping it'll last a bit longer!

Whenever one is needed. However in recent times I just upgrade the hardware of my current custom built. I built so many for so many others and only just built me one back in 2019 haha. I use to just have laptops before that.

In my 21 years of existence, I’ve only ever had 2 computers, unless you count laptops. My first PC was a family PC that lasted up until about 2015 and my current one is a PC I built myself in 2020.

laptop once every 4 to 6 years desktop I can upgrade as needed so there is no need for a new one!

What brand did you get this time around? How much ram does it have?

I got a PC in 2018 and it lasted me until last year, 2023 before I started having issues with it and I replaced it with the laptop I have now.
I would say that I tend to replace when I feel I need to so around everyone 5 - 6 years or so.

I typically get a new one every two years.
However, I refuse to get on Windows 11.
My next purchase is coming up soon, and I'm going to see if it can downgrade to Windows 10 and run fine.
I will run Windows 10 until EOL or when they start charging for updates, in which I'll pay for to keep Windows 10.
They want to be too much like Mac with the toolbar. I don't like it. I didn't like it when I had my MacBook Air, and the reason why I only used it for school and for under a year (also, the HDD broke and the cost to fix it was almost as much as purchasing a newer Air model).
